The whole Blue Screen of Death movement in Chicago started with two dorks, Dan and Mitch, who are originally from Michigan. They had been screwing around with electronic music for years, stretching samples, looping cassettes, creating their own effects and vsts. Finally they started getting together and creating their own sound as a harmonious duo. Within a few practices they decided, "This sounds fucking amazing!" Shortly after that, they both moved to Chicago and started finding like minded rhythm pounders and noise destructors. They then had their first show, in the infamous James Brown Rape Tank, with a few of their closests sonic creationist friends. Their next show took them on the road, well more like the L train, to Bad Dog Tavern. During this show, Dan had a Blue Screen of Death, but that didn't stop them from rocking out. It went so well they decided to have a follow up where Dan worked, Marshall Mcgearty's Tobacco Lounge in Wicker Park. They called it the Blue Screen of Death Experimental Electronic Music Showcase. BeeSODEEMS for short, say it with me now Bee-SOD-EEMS. Very good. After the third showcase it was then and there that they decided to create a record label focusing on the beautiful and complex experimental electronic music here in Chicago.
